Thank you for such an interesting article on Tony Osborne. My mum Nancy worked for Tony and Joan in the 1960's when they lived in Bickenhall Mansions. I wonder if Tony remembers me - I was very young at the time and held him in great awe.

Cyril Stapleton was my fathers cousin I guess that makes him my second cousin. I remember my father speaking very highly of Cyril and how at one stage he was attempting to teach my father the violin. I remember meeting him once when I was very young and he was on a visit to Australia. My husband and I have often wondered where our own children get there musical talent clearly its in the family genes somewhere. Heres hoping they will be as famous as Cyril one day! It was wonderful to read the information on your web sight about him it was far more informative than dad's memories and great for our boys to know they have a famous musician in the family. Cheers Diana Kenyon.

Came across your site whilst searching for Peter Yorke and then read up on Johnny Gregory. My mother was Peter Yorke's copyist and Librarian and ran the B.Bramson Music Service working for most of the names and film makers of that era. I grew up with all the names on your site. If I read it correctly I take it that Johnny Gregory is still with us, if so does he have an email address as I would like to remind him of a favour he once did me in about '56. Great site, so much to catch up on. Trevor Butt

I would like to know the name of the piece by Robert Farnon that was used on the 1960s ABC-TV soap "Dark Shadows" as the original "Josette's Music Box". Was this piece ever available on a record or a CD? Does anyone where to purchase it? Thanks!

Hello from Germany. Thank You very much indeed for this wonderful and informative website about one of my favourite composer and arrangeur. I grow up with easy listening music from Robert Farnon, Ron Goodwin and many others british and american orchestras and singers (like Vera Lynn, Lena Horne). In my youth our german radio, the NWDR and later NDR in Hamburg was influenced very much by BBC radio. Later I very often listenes to BFBS in Germany. Thank you for both - the music an the website.

Hi I was lucky enough to have been born on the beautiful Island of Guernsey (now live in Alderney)and new Robert,Pat and his family very well. As you can imagine I am very saddened to hear of Pat's passing on 4th October, God bless her. I was also very luck to have been given a signed copy of 'Out of my Dreams' from Robert several years ago. Unfortunatly, the CD has become damaged and I am desperate to get hold of a new copy but as yet have been unscccesful. If anyone has a copy I would be very pleased to purchase it or pay for a copy to be copied, plus postage. The 'Great Man' is extreamly missed by us all in Guernsey but his wonderful laugh and magical music will linger on our Island shores until eternity. Kindest regards Janine

These sites for light music are great, but it would be nice if some of the artists music could be playing in the background. I remember some of Robert Farnon's msic and was pleased that he was born in Canada.

I love the music of Robert Farnon, have one of the "British Light Classics" recordings of his music, and after being so taken by "Gateway to the West" (first heard it as theme music for a morning TV movie show probably 20 - 25 years ago) I wrote an arrangement of it for six horns (formerly "French horns") that is now at my publisher's (but don't worry, we know it's copyrighted and she wouldn't begin work on it without getting in touch with the current copyright owner). To me Farnon is like a very high quality Leroy Anderson, much more sophisticated and less gimmicky.

Hi from the USA, I was surfing the web when I found this site. I was wondering if anyone knew if the album Eddie Fisher made with Mr.Farnon has been released. It was called Love's Been Good To Me. I saw Eddie Fisher perform some songs from the album on TV back in 1996. But so far, I have not been able to find the album. Thanks.

I have just joined this great site and was wondering if someone could help me. I have purchased 5 CDs of British light music in the last few weeks and wa wondering if anyone can help with a query. In the 1950s, on Radio Luxemburg, I used to listen to the Mario Lanza hour. Before this, on a Sunday evening, Perry Mason, by Earl Stanley Gardiner was on the air. I fell in love with the exciting music that introduced this programme, but was told it was not commercialy available. Is it now on a CD and what was it called. It may have been written by Sidney Torch or Charles Williams. Thanks in anticipation Bob Davies

I recently purchased the Horatio Hornblower CD and I am thoroughly enchanted with Mr. Farnon's work. Lady Barbara from the Hornblower Suite is so passionate! La Claire Fontaine brings tears to my eyes it is so touching. As a musician, we owe a debt to Mr. Farnon!

Hi there, I am hoping that someone will read this and can help. I am looking for my Uncle, Peter Edwards.I have seen that a Peter Edwards has written some articles here and wonder if it is him. I know nothing about him other than he is a musician/composer, and used to work at St Martins in the Field in London about 25 years ago.He must be about 65 or so now and I would really like to get in contact with him as havent seen him since I was about 3.If anyone can help, or pass on my email to him I would be very very grateful.Thank you for reading this.
